Roberto Giordano was born in 1981. He graduated in 1999 at the Ecole Normale de Musique A. Cortot in Paris with the congratulations of the jury and at the Conservatory G. Rossini in Pesaro cum laude and honor mention. He then further trained with Leonid Margarius and Piero Rattalino at Imola Piano Academy where he then graduated. In 2003, he became popular on the international critics scene thanks to the award he received at the Concours Musical International Reine Elisabeth de Belgique in Brussels. “Excellent pianist, endowed with class and elegance”, “unprecedented virtuoso”, “refined and sensual musician”, “piano poet”. These are some of the descriptions the critics give of Roberto Giordano. Among others, he performed at the La Scala Theatre in Milan, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Hermitage Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Great National Theater and Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, Dal Verme and Manzoni Theaters in Milan, Minato Mirai Hall in Yokohama, Seoul Arts Center in South Korea, Theater an der Wien, Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, Teatro Politeama Garibaldi in Palermo, Filramonica Romana, Instanbul Music Festival, Festival MiTo, Ravello Festival, Asia Performing Arts Festival in South Korea, Stresa Music Week, Music Afternoons in Milan, Brooklyn Firends of Chamber Music in New York. In 2010 he was invited for a recital at Shanghai EXPO in China. He also performed as solo player with major orchestras, like: Orchestre National de Belgique, Orchestre Philarmonique de Liège, Saint Petersburg Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lille, Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, Orchestra of the Theatre “Carlo Felice” of Genoa, Filarmonica Marchigiana, Orchestra of Padua and Veneto region, Sicily Shymponic Orchestra, Gwangjiu Symphony Orchestra (Corea),. He played with orchestra conductors like:
Vasily Petrenko, Rumon Gamba, Paul Mann, Gilbert Varga, Pavel Kogan, Anton Nanut, Markus Bosch, Domonkos Héja, Hansjöerg Schellenberger, Marco Guidarini, Alvise Casellati e Francesco Di Mauro. He played with the baritone-bass Josè Van Dam and cooperated with Leo Nucci, Fen Ning and with the violinist Lorenzo Gatto.
Gérard Corbiau, director of the film “Farinelli” realized in 2004 a special biography on Roberto Giordano entitled “Roberto Giordano d’un monde à l’autre”. The film was broadcast by the major European , Russian, Australian and Canadian cultural channels. He already issued several CDs and DVDs. He recorded six CDs published by the label Cyprès and La Bottega Discantica. His disk on Italian harpsichordists was recently included in Alitalia on board programmes. His videography includes several videos for international TV broadcasters and two prominent works: a DVD for Pianissimo Collection and a recent DVD about Chopin. Both are broadcast by Sky Classic. His performances are regularly recorded and broadcast by RTBF and VRT, Belgian Radio, RAI, Radiouno, Radiotre, Radio 24, Mediaset, ABC (Australia), France 3, China TV (China), Radio Vaticana, Bel-RTL and Luxembourg radio.
After being acknowledged as prominent artist by the Belgian Government, Roberto Giordano started to teach piano at the Institut de Musique et Pédagogie in Namur and at the Conservatory “F. Cilea” in Reggio Calabria.
In 2015 he started teaching at Imola Piano Academy. In Calabria, his region of origin, he created the Cantiere Musicale Internazionale, Institute of Musical studies with a strongly innovative character. Since 2015 he has been appointed Yamaha Artist by Yamaha Music Europe. Roberto Giordano graduated in modern languages and literatures at the University of Bologna.
